The flower is discovered in a summery landscape, bathed in sunshine and eventually wrapped in sea salt spray. Floral notes evoke warm, shimmering skin. Like a shot of vitamin D, it distills a feeling of optimism, light and success. As an ode to the sun, the Flower adorns its rays and appears as the composition masterpiece. Mainly represented by Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine or the Tiaré Flower.
From a pictorial point of view, the sun has always fascinated artists being for them an ultimate, mythical, enigmatic, and romantic source of inspiration. In 2022, the Marmottan Monet museum in collaboration with the Barberini Museum, celebrates the 150th anniversary of the masterpiece : Impression, soleil levant thanks the exhibition called "Face au Soleil, un astre dans les arts". It will showcase paintings from iconic artists such as Pierre-Paul Rubens, Gustave Courbet or Joan Miro.
Here, the flower reveals itself to make a theatrical entrance. As Daniel Roseberry on January 23rd during the presentation of his 2023 Haute-Couture Spring-Summer collection for Schiaparelli. Inspired by the work of Dante Alighieri, it expresses animality but also a majestic aura. Like the model appearing bare torso, only dressed in gold metallic paint or the XXL busters adorned with shells, pearls, and crystal jewels. Extravagance becomes garnements.
Interesting fact, the Tahiti Monoi is celebrating its 30 years anniversary! The blend is used for many years but has only been secured by an origin designation since 1992.
PERFUMER TALK
"With its exceptional quality, the Lautier ylang ylang is resolutely modern with its salicylic and solar effect. For the first time in a long time, I am enjoying using ylang in large quantities in a creation. Today, it is more smiling, very sunny and much less animalic and crésolic, definitely closer to the ylang that can be found in Madagascar and that I was lucky enough to smell."
